Cemetery Clean up to be conducted Oct. 29

There will be a community work day at Slaton Cemetery/Englewood Cemetery Oct. 29 starting at 8 a.m. Those participating are asked to bring mowers, string trimmers/weed eaters, rakes, and hoes, as well as clippers to clean rose bushes and others plants that are in need of trimming.

Work gloves are encouraged due to stickers.

Those participating will gather at the Veteran’s Memorial at the North end of the cemetery and start from there. Parking is available along 20th St. and on roads in the cemetery.

Church groups, businesses, youth groups, school organizations and anyone who has loved ones buried at the cemetery are invited to come and help. Community service certificates will be given to students who help with the cleanup for college applications.

Trash bags will be provided and all trash and clippings will be taken to the recycling center in Slaton.

The goal of having it all in great shape by Veteran’s Day Nov. 11. Cemetery Rules and Regulations will be followed.
