The Roosevelt Eagles’ boys cross country team had a lot of learning experiences but also a strong end to their 2022 season Saturday (Nov. 5) at the State University Interscholastic League Cross Country Meet.
The team placed 12th out of 16 teams at the meet, which was contested at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
Head Coach Kim Clemmons said the race was “super unique” for the team as it was comprised of the fastest runners this year across the State. “It was quite a learning experience. I do not think we ran as fast as we could have, and they guys know it too,” she said. “We are grateful for the experience of competing at the State level, but now eager to return and improve on that finish.”
This is especially true as there are no seniors on the team this year – either team.
The top finisher was Dax Mahan, who placed 67th with a time of 17:46.
Other finishers were Billy Bond – 82nd, 18:11; Justice Jackson – 92nd, 18:24; Blake Castillo – 119th, 18:56; Fernando Valdez – 123rd, 19:06; Kobe Mireles – 130th, 19:18 and Cody Gilbert – 143rd, 19:52.
