Tigers end season in District, Eagles football in playoffs

The Slaton Tigers football team ended their season with a loss to the Brownfield Cubs 6-20 Friday evening (Nov. 4) in Brownfield.

The loss capped off a season where the Tigers finished 0-10, and fifth place in District.

The Roosevelt Eagles’ playoff chances came down to the last game of the season, winning against the Littlefield Wildcats 42-20 to secure fourth place and the last spot in playoffs.

The team will next play the Canadian Wildkats tonight (Nov. 10) at 7:30 p.m. at Happy State Bank in Canyon in the Bi-District round. (See story, page 8)

Southland finished third in its District, capping off its season with a win by a Welch Dawson forfeit.

The Eagles finished in third place going 2-2 in District; however does not advance out of District, as UIL only takes the top two teams in District into playoffs for six-man football.

The Wilson Mustangs finished fourth in District, going 1-3 in District.
