Lions kicks off annual Giving Tuesday, presents checks to 10 non-profits

The Slaton Lions Club presented checks to 10 local non-profit organizations Nov. 14 as part of its annual Giving Tuesday kickoff.

Groups receiving checks were Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Meals on Wheels, Weekend Snack Sack, Ministerial Alliance, Santa Red & Blue, Slaton Athletic Booster Club, Slaton Band Boosters, Slaton Ag Booster Club, Slaton Harvey House and the Slaton Cub Scouts.

Lions President Trevor Barnes said the club does this every year to help the groups as well as get people to give during the holiday season.

“We’ve got Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday… so we’re doing this to try and spark off Giving Tuesday and give back to Slaton,” he said.
