People from all churches gathered together in thanksgiving and worship at the Community Thanksgiving service Sunday evening (Nov. 20) at Slaton Methodist Church.
The event was also a celebration of the Slaton Ministerial Alliance, a group of several churches that help those in need with small expenses such as gas, food or other needs.
A total of $625 was collected as part of the love offering passed around.
Pastor Joseph Fly of Slaton Methodist gave the sermon.
He talked about two elements of being a Christian: One was the joy that comes from knowing Christ and the other to means to give thanks.
“We are called to honor God and give back to the Lord our God. Gratitude is foundational to our very Christian faith, and is an important and necessary part of who we are as Christians,” he said.
