The Slaton Economic Development Foundation conducted two public hearings for business grants Thursday afternoon (Jan. 19) during its monthly meeting.
Public comment opened at 12:08 p.m. for a grant in the amount of $10,000 for Tiger Train Fitness. It also conducted one for a project located at 118 W. Garza St. in the amount of $80,000 to promote new or expanded business development and a project located at 125 N. 8th St. in the amount of $35,000 to promote new or expanded business.
When no one spoke, the hearing was closed at 12:13 p.m.
The Board approved Resolution No. 2023-1 for a project located at 118 W. Garza St. and 125 N. 8th St. Executive Director Barbara Hopper said SEDCO would purchase the property if everything went well. She added the resolution was also sent to their lawyer so there were additional legal terms in it.
