SEDCO nominates 1 for seat, discusses FedEx box removal

The Slaton Economic Development Corporation selected a recommendation for a nominee to a vacant seat Thursday afternoon (Feb. 16) during its monthly meeting.

Executive Director Barbara Hopper said the board had a list of several candidates who were considered, with one submitted by a resident.

Tiffany White was selected as the nominee for the position, which will be presented to the City Council in March’s meeting for consideration.

If approved, White will fill the remainder of the unexpired term of Chad Wilson, who resigned from his seat in late 2022.

Members also heard a report of the decision to remove the FedEx box by their office. Hopper said she received a call the week of Jan. 27 the box would be removed soon due to lack of volume.

She added this was not SEDCO’s decision, and added they were looking at other groups for shipping and delivery to be put in Slaton.
