SEDCO gets update on FedEx box removal

The Slaton Economic Development Corporation received an update about the removal of a FedEx box at their location as well as conducted a public hearing during its monthly meeting Thursday (March 16).
A public hearing regarding a project located at 165 W. Lubbock St. was opened at 12:03 p.m. The project is in the amount of $100,000 and will be to promote or expand business development.
When no one spoke, the hearing was closed at 12:05.
Executive Director Barbara Hopper said FedEx would be coming over to pick up the drop box on or after April 12 and the business has placed a sticker on the box to inform the public of its removal.
The board a presentation from Taylor McAlpine from Leading EDG about business coaching. He said Leading EDG had an average of 2-3 clients a month, new and recurring.
McAlpine said everyone who used the service has been appreciative of it, and he has seen improvements for some of the businesses. He added to its been one of the best on boards for a smaller city he’s seen.
The only issue he has seen is when to be available for store owners, as he wants to be available as often as possible.
Hopper said he could adjust his schedule to for his time, as long as he was there at least once a month.
Leading EDG will also email future reports or do a presentation in person for future updates.
