Annual Firewise Canyon Clean-up day to be conducted Saturday
The Ransom Canyon Fire Department, the Habitat Conservation Group, and the POA are sponsoring a Firewise Canyon Clean-up Day. This year it is on Saturday (April 29).
They need as many volunteers as are able to pitch in, and do the big jobs, the little jobs, and those in between jobs.
The reason they are doing this is to keep canyon clean so it is not only appealing to the eyes, it is safer for the residents.
All volunteers are asked to report to the Ranch House at 9 a.m. to sign in, grab a donut, a Clean Up Day wristband, and claim their assignment.
Volunteers are needed to walk the canyon to pick up trash that has accumulated. Trash bags will be provided at the Ranch House. Gloves and walking shoes are recommended.
Volunteers are needed to trim trees, remove brush, deadfall, and natural debris and rake in designated areas to be announced at the Ranch House. Gloves, sturdy shoes, and tools (chain saws, tree saws, lopers, rakes, and hoes) are recommended.
Working at home or helping a neighbor to clean gutters, trim trees and bushes, etc.? That counts too. Those cleaning up the canyon this route are asked to sign in at the Ranch House at 9 a.m.
The City Operations Department will collect large, bulky items, i.e. furniture, appliances, branches, etc. placed at the curb at canyon residences by 9 a.m. Saturday. To request this service, call or text 806-789-4881 with your address and a description of the items to be picked up.
Hazardous materials (paint, chemicals), tires, or construction materials are not eligible for this service. All items must be at the curb by 9 a.m. to be included. City Operations will not be able to make multiple passes around the canyon or take more than a single load from any one residence.
