The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees conducted a light meeting Tuesday (May 9), approving several contracts and purchases.
The board approved contracts for non-certified personnel and professional employees.
Trustees approved a contract with Benchmark for a three year leas agreement of copiers. Finance manager Art Martin said the current contract was expiring, and the District wanted to add one more copier to its 16 copier contract. They wanted to purchase it to help Cathelene Thomas Elementary to make it more convenient for teachers to make copies.
The also approved the purchase of new Chromebooks to exceed no more than $85,000 total. Martin said some of the Chromebooks were five to six years old and are wearing out. Some were also past the end of life on the device, but have overall served them well. They plan on continuing the same system of handouts.
