The Slaton Economic Development Corporation discussed an update on the proposed mural project for its building as well as several projects during its monthly meeting Thursday (May 18).

The also conducted a public hearing for Ron Hoover RV & Marine, which opened at 12:05 p.m.

When no one came to speak, it was closed at 12:10 p.m.

It will now go into a 60 day comment period.

Judy Thomas, head of the mural committee, said she talked with the prospective painter, Jana Giles, who would look at the building to gather input and suggestions for the project.

They are also trying to decide which side to paint the mural so it would be most visible to visitors.

The board approved an audit proposal with Bolinger, Segars, Gilbert and Moss, LLP for the year ending Sept. 30, 2023.

Executive Director Barbara Hopper said it was a letter of intent they would sign if the City went with the company again for auditing purposes.

The board also listened to prospective businesses that were looking at potential buildings and land for sale.
