Biennial South Plains Airshow to feature variety of planes

The biennial South Plains Airshow will be all day June 10 at the Slaton Municipal Airport on FM 400.

There will be a variety of airplanes on display, the museum will be open and an air show after noon.

The event will be conducted rain or shine. The forecast as of press time Tuesday (June 6) predicts it to be in the 90s with a 40 percent chance of rain.

Among the shows this year will be  Tora, Tora, Tora, Franklin Airshows, the Commemorative Air Force P-40 Warhawk, C-47 Skytrain and Bob Carlton with Vertigo Airshows.

Modern military aircraft are also tentatively scheduled to make an appearance.

The show will also feature Ron Cain in his Super Chipmunk,World War II airplanes such as the B-25 Devil Dog, Aircraft from the Commemorative Air Force, Texas Air Museum and more.

Gates open at 10 a.m. and cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages six-12. Children under age six are admitted free.
