The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a administrative probationary contract for a new Assistant Superintendent Monday evening (June 5) during its regular monthly board meeting.
The contract, for Christopher Carpenter, is effective Aug. 1. He fills the spot vacated by Shelli Crow, who was promoted to superintendent.
The board approved non-certified personnel contracts for the 2023-24 school year, as well as administrator contracts.
Trustees swore in board members and reorganized the board Monday evening (June 5) during its regular monthly meeting.
District 4 and board President Carlos Bentancourt and District 3 Trustee Irma Jaramillo were sworn in after neither drew an opponent in the May election.
Bentancourt was elected president, Kara Newcomb vice president and Justin Martin secretary.
