The Slaton Economic Development Corporation conducted a public hearing for Auto Diesel Systems Thursday afternoon (July 15) during its monthly meeting.
The hearing was opened at 12:02 p.m., and when no one spoke, it was closed at 12:06.
The hearing was for a project in the amount of up to $20,000 for a building construction incentive.
The board also received an update on the mural project for the SEDCO building.
Board member Judy Thomas said she received an email from the prospective artist, who has made an offer that if the board moves up the budget from $4,000 to $5,000, she would add an additional $2,000 from a grant she had. This would allow SEDCO to have a mural that is 16 feet-by-10 feet instead of a proposed 10 foot-by-10 foot one.
The board also looked at potential designs presented by the artist as well. There was discussion about the color schemes, slogans ad other details to ensure the sign was used and had an impact for visitors. One suggestion included adding a rope to a design so it became more interactive, and changing of lettering to ensure readability.
