Together in Grace gathers people to celebrate Juneteenth festivities

Together in Grace brought members of the community together to celebrate Juneteenth Saturday (June 17) at Elgie Allen Park.

Juneteenth marks the day – June 19, 1866, when Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and read the order proclaiming the end of slavery.

It was made into a federal holiday in 2021 by President Joe Biden.

The event featured a parade, food, games and activities.

A water slide and splash pool was also available for children to cool off in.
