Library nears end of Summer Reading Program

The City of Slaton Library has had a busy Summer program this year, which included visits from Curious George and, This past Friday (July 14) Smoky Bear and the Texas A&M Forestry Department.
The members of the Forestry Department did a brief story on Smokey and how to prevent forest fires. Youth also had the opportunity to try their hands at using a fire hose outside.
July 10, Mayor Clif Shaw read a book and everyone was surprised to have a visit from Curious George. He was brought to the library by the Texas Tech Public Media.
There’s still a bit more however left for the Library this Summer before school starts.
