There have been festivals featuring chicken fried steak, pumpkins, watermelons, and other events.

The Slaton Bakery wants to add another one – Banana Pudding.

The first ever Texas Banana Pudding Festival will be conducted Saturday (Sept. 2) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in downtown.

There will be four types of pudding to sample as well as a variety of vendors and food trucks.

Chad Wilson, organizer of the event, said he was inspired by other food festivals across the State.

“We have been wanting to do this festival for years. It seems like there are food festivals all around us like Pumpkin Days in Floydada, and Chicken Fried Steak Festival in Lamesa, so we thought why not a banana pudding festival in Slaton, where the best Vanilla Wafers in Texas are made, since that’s a key ingredient in banana pudding,” he said.

“We also have a lot of great non profits in Slaton that are always in need of funding, so we thought this would be a good opportunity to raise money for them, While bringing awareness to our brand.”
