Fifty years ago, the 1974 Slaton High School women’s basketball team made history winning the State Championship with a 51-45 victory over Comanche.
The team will be honored for that accomplishment with several anniversary activities this week during homecoming.
There will be a meet and greet the current team during the day prior to the pep rally from 1:30-2:15 p.m. at the Slaton High School gym.
They will also be recognized at the pep rally, which will be conducted from 2:45-3:40 p.m. at the Slaton High School gym
After the pep rally, there will be a reception in the school library from 3:40-4:45. The event is open for anyone who wants to visit with the team and the Slaton High School library.
The Tigerette team will then be honored at halftime during the homecoming game.
The game will be at 7 p.m. at Blake J. Boyd Stadium.
Slaton’s 1974 team went 30-4 on the year.
