Slaton Area Endowment gives checks to 6 organizations

The Slaton Area Endowment presented checks to six organizations Friday evening (Oct. 20) at halftime of the Slaton-Lamesa game.
Board members awarded grants totaling $8,500 to six recipients:
• Cathelene Thomas Elementary School – CTE Playground Project.
• Llano Estacado Silver Star Board – Slaton Area Seniors.
• Slaton ISD Choir Program – Slaton ISD Choral Uniforms.
• Slaton Ministerial Alliance – SSMA Food and Hygiene Item Pantry
• Slaton Railroad Heritage Association – Replacement of mattresses and bedding.
• Slaton Senior Citizens Center – Delivery van fuel and inspection.
In 2013, community visionaries came together to establish the Slaton Area Endowment. The Slaton Area Endowment was created by and for the people of this area, and is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of West Texas. It is an organization that serves this community through donations and grant funding to area non-profits.
