JJ’s Cafe celebrated 22 years in business with 22 cakes Wednesday (Nov. 15) at its restaurant.
Customers were treated to complimentary slice of cake.
Joy Sims, who owns JJ’s along with Jodie Sims, said she had owned a restaurant in Lubbock for years before moving to Slaton.
“As a child, the oldest of four girls we moved from small town to small town a lot. We finally settled in yet another small town,” she said.
Sims started waitstaffing at age 12, not realizing it was the start of a lifelong career. “I absolutely fell in love with the ebb and flow, the rhythm of the food business.
