Ministerial Alliance Thanksgiving service benefits those in need

By Melissa McCaghren

The Slaton Ministerial Alliance conducted a Thanksgiving Service Sunday evening (Nov. 19) at Lighthouse Apostolic Church.

The event also had an offering for the food and hygiene pantry located at the Earl Powell Center as well as other community service efforts. A total of $978 was raised for the pantry, which helps those in need around Slaton.

First Baptist Church Pastor Darron Weaver presented the message. It was the “Art of Contentment,” based off of 1 Timothy 6:6-8: “But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.”
