Downtown Slaton got a little bit more colorful as sunflowers popped up near the Square.
Painted ones that is.
Artist Jana Giles has spent several days working on the sunflowers and sunset mural, which is on display on the 9th St. side of the Slaton Econcomic Development Corporation building.
Giles said she was reached out to in May by SEDCO about painting the mural.
“We started, you know, merging ideas and talking about kind of what we could do to really bring joy and inspiration to downtown Slaton,” she said. “I’ve been working with the Economic Development Center since May to kind of bring this to life and so we finally decided on a design several weeks ago and then, you know, it was good time.”
