Ginning, baling season ends just under 300,000

From Staff Reports

The 2023 cotton ginning and baling season has completed for the year.

Lubbock Cotton Growers was the last gin producing bales, and finished the week of Dec. 29.

WesTex Coop, Texas Star Coop, Idalou Coop and New Home Coop finished their seasons earlier in the year.

The total as of press time Tuesday (Jan. 2) is 292,775 bales, and while the total will not take a Top 10 bale count record spot, this year 137,947 more bales were ginned than last year’s 154,828.

All gins saw an increase over last year’s numbers, which were affected by a season with high drought and bad weather.
