Belia Valderaz, 88, of Slaton, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Viewing was conducted from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Englunds.
Visitation was conducted from 4-5 p.m., followed by a Rosary Service from 5- 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday, March 14, 2024), at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.
Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Belia was born July 1, 1935, to Benito and Rosa Garcia.
She moved to Slaton as a child.
She married Arnulfo Valderaz, July 28, 1951, in Slaton.
She worked for Texas Instruments and retired after 20 years. She then worked for Lubbock State School for 10 years.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas.
She was a sophisticated, classy lady.
She loved to cook and was an avid Texas Tech fan, especially the Lady Raider basketball team.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughters, Elia, Sylvia, and Maria Valderaz and her sister, Celia Cardenas.
Belia is survived by her daughters, Olvia Martinez of Slaton, Lydia Castillo and her husband, Carlos of Lubbock, Gloria Lira of Slaton, and Rosaro Gutierrez and her husband, Ray of Slaton; her sons, Armando Valderaz of Lubbock and Guadalupe Valderaz and his wife, Rose of Odessa; six sisters; eight brothers; 20 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 22 great great-grandchildren; and her fur baby, Daisy.
