Judy Davis
Judith “Judy” Jeanette Davis, 86, of Lubbock, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Funeral Services were Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Englunds Chapel in Slaton. Interment followed at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements were by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Judy was born on May 9, 1938, in San Angelo to William J. “Jud” and Pherne Thomas.
She graduated as Valedictorian from Slaton High School. She attended Texas State College for Women, now TWU, for one year. Judy married Dwight Davis at Slaton United Methodist Church on June 23, 1966, and they began their adventure of moving from place to place for many years, before settling in Lubbock.
She loved to travel and has been to all 50 states. The highlight of her travels was driving around Central Park, and she always enjoyed making long-distance calls to her sisters in Slaton. Judy was a past president and member of Beta Sigma Phi, a national sorority. Her hobbies were playing cards, working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles and being active in numerous bridge clubs.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Waylon Davis; her brothers, Richard Thomas and Don Caldwell; and her brother-in -law, Travis Lancaster.
Judy is survived by her son, William “Bill” Davis and his wife, Lavonne of Tomball; her daughter-in-law, Kim Davis of Lubbock; her sisters, Joanne Lancaster and Jacque Davidson and her husband, John Craig, all of Slaton; her sisters-in-law, Terri Caldwell of Lubbock and Linda Thomas of Hot Springs, Arkansas; her grandchildren, James Weckwerth and his wife, Olivia, Weston Davis and his wife, Victoria, William Davis, Hunter Davis, Nolan Davis and his wife, Alison, Garrett Davis, and Alonzo Collins; and her great-grandchildren, Audrey and Henry Weckwerth.
The family suggest memorials be made to Slaton Methodist Church, Slaton Harvey House, or Slaton Meals on Wheels.
