Basilio “Bandido Bass” Zapata, 61, of Slaton, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Viewing will be 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Englunds, followed by a Rosary Service at 6 p.m. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Slaton. 

Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.   

Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Bass was born on June 14, 1963, in Brady to Jose and Lucia Zapata. 

He and his family moved to Slaton in 1965 where he attended school and graduated from Slaton High School in 1982. 

He worked as a paint and body technician for many years at Smith Ford and for Jim Frances. 

Bass had a passion for motorcycle riding and was part of the Bandido Motorcycle Club.  

He enjoyed taking care of his nieces and nephews and his sister’s dog, Bear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jose Zapata Jr.

Bass is survived by his sons, Zadrian Zapata and Jeffery Davenport, both of San Angelo; his grandchildren,  Ava, Kaleb, and Auerinna; his sisters, Yolanda Zapata of Slaton, and Juanita Martinez of Fort Collins, Colo.; his brothers, Luis Zapata and his wife, Linda, Gabriel Zapata and his wife, Angie, Robert Zapata, Modesto Zapata, and Daniel Zapata, all of Slaton; his nieces and nephews; his great-nieces and nephews; his cousins; numerous friends; and his brothers from his Bandido Motorcycle Club.
