Tim Hodges was sworn in as the 11th Postmaster for the Slaton Post Office Tuesday morning (May 21) during a ceremony at the Post Office.

He was sworn in by Skip French, Manager of Post Office operations.

French said he has known Hodges for more than 20 years, meeting him first in Roswell, N.M.

“I was the new Postmaster there at the time and when I came in there, I had a very, very inexperienced carrier. I had one experienced manager, and then I had a bunch of new folks,” said French, “In fact, Tim was so new that he was in a brand new management intern program at the time and was green as a prickly pear.

“But I quickly learned that Tim had the necessary skills that you need to be an effective manager,” added French. “He’s really easy with people, very conversational, very no nonsense. He has a lot of common sense, which is in short supply these days, so picked up on that very quickly.”
