Mary V. Ruiz, 84, of Slaton, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton. 

Interment followed at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements were by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. 

Mary was born on July 14, 1940 in Wharton to Francisco and Victoria Valdez. She moved with her family to the Southland area, where she went to school.

 Later she moved to Slaton where she met Steve Ruiz, and they were married on May 5, 1962. 

She had odd jobs here and there but was primarily a homemaker, taking care of her family.

She loved to dance and enjoyed every minute she spent with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Steve Ruiz, and six brothers.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Cindy Diaz and her husband, Johnny and Mary Ann Martinez and her husband, Francisco all of Slaton; her son, Rudy Ruiz and his wife, Elda of Lubbock; her sisters, Sandra Valdez of Slaton and Francis De La Rosa of San Antonio; her brothers, Pete Valdez and his wife, Janie of Wilson and Dan Valdez and his wife, Josie of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
