The Slaton Economic Development Corporation approved increasing Executive Director Lezlee Harlan’s salary Thursday afternoon (June 12)  during a special meeting. The Board also reviewed a building donated for Project 2024-25-5.

The Board went into executive session. When it reconvened, it took no action regarding a building donated for a project.

It also approved to raise Harlan’s salary to the Grade 10 step 22 to $55,889.60 after her sixth month review.

Harlan also gave an update on the Downtown Strategies plan. She said they were receiving more emails from the business helping them out but had caught up on their requests.

She added the company now wants SEDCO to focus on the Aug. 6 meeting and get the word out to get community input. Harlan said they would need to RSVP to see if the  SEDCO office was big enough or not.

This meeting, along with surveys that have been sent out to all businesses in the City would be gathered to help work on producing a plan to help create ordinances and other regulations. The goal is to help improve and add businesses on the Square and Slaton.
