Band, football to begin 2-a-days in coming weeks

The Slaton High School Mighty Tiger Band and Football teams are preparing for the 2025-26 school year with practices that will begin in the upcoming weeks.

The band starts its practices the week of July 28, Monday through Thursday. Percussion is from 4-5:30 p.m., flags from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and wind instruments from 7-9 p.m. There will be no Friday practice.

The week of Aug. 4, band will again practice Monday through Thursday, and be off Friday. Flags will be from 5:30 -6:30 p.m., then flags, percussion and winds together from 7-9 p.m.

There is no money needed for band camp – it is free. The band will be going over marching fundamentals, marching music and stand tunes. 

Participants will need water and good shoes, as they will be learning their routine for the year.

Football practices will begin with two-a-days the week of Aug. 4.
