Harvey House, Commission to rededicate marker July 23

The Lubbock County Historical Commission invites all to attend a re-dedication of a Texas Historical Marker for the Slaton Harvey House July 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Harvey House, 400 Railroad Ave.

A replacement marker will be unveiled and a reception and tour of the Slaton Harvey House will follow.

The marker was heavily damaged in 2021, necessitating a replacement. A marker costs approximately $1,600-$2,000 to replace.

Former Slaton Police Chief Trevor Barnes said in 2021 the Slaton Police Department received a call May 4 that year in the afternoon about the damage.
