The City of Slaton Commissioners approved the 2026 proposed operating budget and property tax rate Monday evening (Aug. 11) during its regular meeting.

The proposed tax rate is $0.685656 per $100 valuation. This is the voter approved tax rate.

A public hearing on the budget will be conducted Aug. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by 28.35 percent, or $527,105.88. Of that amount, $7,890.13 will be tax revenue from new property added to the tax roll.

The proposed operating budget is on file at the City Secretary’s office and at www.cityofslaton.com for review.
