The Slaton Economic Development Corporation heard an update of an engineering study or architectural review of property at 165 W. Lubbock St. among other topics Thursday afternoon (Aug. 21) during its regular meeting.

Lezlee Harlan, Executive Director said the person doing the study would gather some numbers together, but said the building would work as offices as the building is currently built, provided there was nothing that had to go through the roof. She added if a restaurant or other business that needed an exhaust was interested in the building, they would have to replace the roof. Other items such as plumbing, bathrooms and interior were also discussed. Harlan said they were closer to where they could promote the building.

The Board also heard an update from The Retail Coach. Harlan gave boardmembers information on the first retailer approached. She added she would be going to Austin for a retailer expo, and focusing on businesses around Lubbock. Retail Coach added to let them reach out to businesses who are interested to see what feasibility studies were needed as some were specific, but Harlan said she hopes they reach out to a few businesses at the event to see what was needed.
