Senior Center off to busy start after move in

The time of waiting is finally over.
After several delays, the new Slaton Senior Citizens Center building opened its doors Sept. 2.
There were many firsts, such as the first meal served, first workouts, and event first family Bingo Night Saturday evening (Sept. 6).
Each event was carefully recorded for the history books.
That said, the move started a week prior, and Director Nita Williams said they planned to move in stages.
The kitchen and I were packed and ready when the time arrived. We had to move first because the kitchen needed to up and ready to cook the first meal on opening day and I needed access to client files, computer, and copiers,” she said. “We moved over the Labor Day weekend and had several individuals volunteer their time and especially flat carts and carts that were able to move the tables and chairs, and we were ready Sept. 2 for business as usual.”
