ATSF 1809 engine soon to receive new paint job

Drivers around the Square may have been surprised to see no fence around the ATSF 1809 engine last week.
The fence is down so the train can be painted. Repairs have been under way for some time on the Engine, including treating for asbestos and repairing holes.
The train will be painted by Charles Hargrove Painting, who were out Monday (Sept. 29) sanding and prepping the train.
Those who may be in the area of the work need to heed caution of paint and power washing over the next three weeks. A fence will be added after work is completed.
