Roosevelt XC wins District, Slaton’s Barron advances

The Roosevelt High School Eagles Cross Country will all come to “fly” at Regionals, while Slaton High School’s Izzy Barron also advances to the Regional Meet.

Roosevelt swept first place – individually and teams – Monday morning (Oct. 6) during District 3A University Interscholastic League Cross Country at Slaton.

RHS Coach Kim Clemmons said this was the fourth straight District Championship the boys won and the second straight title for the girls.

Jazzy Chavira of RHS won the individual title with a time of 12:46:70. It was her first individual title. Izzy Barron of Slaton placed sixth with a 13:36.48 to qualify to Regionals.

RHS’ Billy Bond ran a 17:06.27 to take home the boys title.
