SEDCO hears updates, makes donations to events

From Staff Reports

The Slaton Economic Development Corporation approved donations to two events and received an update on the Oct. 7 Input Session Thursday afternoon (Oct. 16) during its regular meeting.

Executive Director Lezlee Harlan said businesses and citizens were “eager” about improving the Downtown area. She added there have been 15 benches contracted to be built through Slaton Independent School District’s Career and Technical Education Welding and construction departments to be delivered throughout the school year.

The Board made a $1,000 donation to the Slaton Education Foundation Sneaker Ball set for Dec. 31. The event is a fundraiser that will benefit students and teachers in the District.

Boardmembers also approved a $1,000 donation to the Slaton FFA as a sponsorship. This will go toward the annual Slaton FFA Livestock Show and support the SISD students.
