State bound!

Top, Roosevelt High School’s Billy Bond qualified for the State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock at the Regional Cross Country Course Monday morning (Oct. 20) at Mae Simmons Park. He placed eighth with a 16:48.30. Below, David Pantoja of Wilson High also qualified for the State meet, finishing fifth with a time of 19:04. Slaton had one qualifier, Izzy Barron, Wilson two, Pantoja and Natalie Valdez, and Roosevelt qualified both its girls and boys teams for the Regional race. Bond and Pantoja will next compete at State at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. For story and full results, see page 4.
