City of Slaton Commision Meeting

The City of Slaton, Tx had their meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10.The meeting was adjourned at 7:21 p.m. There were no public comments.
The commission meeting of May 13, and the cemetery board meeting of May 28, were both approved. Negative numbers were shown for the pooled cash repots and approved the finacial statements and monthly bills. Approval of the public investment funds and hearing about the work on filling potholes around town were discussed.
Water and sewer installtions are on the decline.The meters are getting a lot easier to read.
Master meter will be here at the end of June to help with training to read the new meters and use of Ipads. They have installed 1,043 meters in the month of May and 150 in the last two weeks.
Billing stays the same with no change. Zoning had 57 cases opened.
In May 2024 the Slaton Police Depatrment had 362 calls and Lubbock assisted with an additional 23. Animal Control had 66 calls and 37 rescued animals went to Colorado, Kansas, and Canada.
Administration applied for a grant last year and was approved for $330,000 in reimbursements. A payment was recieved for the body camera grant in the ammount of $10,000.
Atlantis Aquatics is meeting on Wednesday (June 12) to get the pool fixed.
Benny Lopez was elected as Mayor Pro Ten.
A bid was awarded for the hydra-stop installation between Post and Slaton.
