Slaton City Council Adopts New Property Tax Rate

The Slaton City Council convened a special meeting on Monday at 5:31 p.m. in City Hall to adopt the proposed 2024 property tax rate. The meeting was brief, concluding by 5:33 p.m.

The council approved a new rate of $0.530134 per $100 of valuation, marking a 0.82441% increase from last year. Homeowners with properties valued at $100,000 can expect an additional $6.75 in maintenance and operations taxes.

There were no conflicts of interest among council members, and no public comments were made during the session. Ordinance #832 was adopted unanimously, ensuring necessary funding for essential city services.
