FFA wins honors at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
The Slaton High School Future Farmers of America had a great showing at the Houston Livestock Show this past week, and students took home a plethora of awards from the event.
Wyatt Harlan won Supreme Champion and also took home Reserve Breed American in the Calf Scramble at the Livestock Show. Grace Parker placed third in the scramble heifer while Mary Joe Parker came in sixth in the scramble heifer.
Blake Vineyard, an agriculture teacher at Slaton High School spoke about the impact that this group of seniors have had on the FFA.
“I firmly believe that this group of seniors have taught our younger members is that when hard work meets determination, it equals success. Our seniors have worked tirelessly to get where they are, and they will truly be missed when they graduate,” Vineyard said.
