Sports schedule for the week
Here is the schedule for local sports this week:
In football, Slaton will play Friday evening (Sept. 29) against Friona for homecoming at 7 p.m.
Roosevelt has a bye week this week.
Wilson will play Cotton Center Friday for its homecoming at 7:30 p.m.
Southland will face Lefors at 5 p.m Friday.
In Cross Country, the Tigers will next race Saturday (Sept. 30) at the Oil Patch Invitational in Sundown.
The junior high girls will race 9 a.m., junior high boys at 9:30, the JV girls at 10 a.m. and JV boys at 11 a.m., and Varsity girls at11 a.m. with the boys following at 11:30 a.m.

Slaton Senior Citizens Center Breakfast set for Oct. 7
The Slaton Senior Citizens Center will host a Pancake Breakfast helping the Meals on Wheels Oct. 7 from 8:30-11 a.m. at the center, 230 W. Lynn St.
They will be serving pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee.
Cost is $5 a person and carry-out is available.

Oktoberfest to be conducted Oct. 21-22
The 54th annual Oktoberfest will be Oct. 21-22 at St. Joseph Hall.
Sausage sales will be from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. or until sold out. Preorders are available at https://store.slatonsausage.com.
The festivall will be from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and feature live music, food and drinks.
The dinner will be served Oct. 22 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Plates will be $15.
