The grand opening of Brick Street Thrift & Boutique was held on July 10, 2024, bringing a new wave of excitement and community spirit to Slaton. The event was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m., followed by the store’s opening for business from 1:30 to 7:00 p.m. The celebration was attended by many, including the mayor, members from the Slaton Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO), the chamber of commerce, and several of the owner’s family members.
Brick Street Thrift & Boutique offers a wide range of products tailored to meet the needs of local residents. The store’s primary mission is to provide affordable, clean, and quality clothing for men, women, and especially children. The store offers clothing for all genders, age groups, and sizes. In addition to clothing, the boutique features home decor, kitchen items, holiday decor, books, toys, and various odds and ends. “Times are hard, and our community needed a place that could help ease financial stress,” said Owner Mishel Jeffcoat “The other items we offer are just a bonus thanks to the space we have.”
The inspiration to open is deeply rooted in faith and a desire to serve the hometown community. “I truly credit the vision and opportunity for Brick Street to The Lord. I’ve always wanted to own a business in my hometown, and when God spoke to my spirit about what He wanted, I was obedient and ran with it. Slaton had a need, and I am so excited to see it met, but all the credit goes to Him,” Jeffcoat shared.
Located at 118 W Garza on the side of the square in Slaton. Summer hours may vary, but the store will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting in the fall. This schedule allows ample time for residents to visit and shop at their convenience. Starting September 1st, Brick Street Thrift & Boutique will begin accepting donations again.
