City approves infrastructure projects

The recent Slaton City Hall meeting, held at City Hall on July 8, 2024 was called to order at 6:32 p.m., July 8, 2024 ,and saw significant community participation and decision-making on various fronts. Mayor Clifton Shaw and Commissioners Tony Newton, Jim Taliaferro, Benny Lopez, and Valarie Johnson, alongside city staff and concerned residents, convened to address critical city matters.
Infrastructure Upgrades discussions centered around approving projects aimed at improving roads and utilities to accommodate the city’s growth. Water System Rehabilitation John Hoffman of USG Water Solutions presented plans for repairing and restoring local water storage facilities, ensuring enhanced water infrastructure resilience.
Financial Approvals the Commission approved the financial statement, monthly bills, and public investment funds, crucial for ongoing city operations and improvements. Economic Development resolutions were passed to support local businesses and attract new investments, including a project incentive for Double F Manufacturing, LLC.
Community Development Actions were taken to advance housing reconstruction programs and small business support, underscoring the city’s commitment to local economic vitality. City Manager Wade Willson also provided updates on the upcoming budget, emphasizing transparency and community input in the budgetary process.
