 By: Jenna Howle

On August 8, 2024, the local Chamber of Commerce met for a productive meeting that lasted from 12:01 PM to 12:42 PM. The session was marked by a focus on several key community events and initiatives that will bring engagement to the town.

The meeting began with the approval of the previous meeting’s minutes and the review of the Chamber’s financials. One of the main topics on the agenda was the 2024 Awards Banquet. Tables are almost sold out, signaling strong interest and enthusiasm. Attendees can look forward to a memorable evening featuring a silent auction, live music and two different food options from popular food trucks: Mijo’s and Sugar N’ Sliced included in the price of the ticket for $50.

The Chamber also discussed several exciting community events. The Combine is set to make its way to town, and be open to the Slaton Community on the square.

Looking ahead to the fall, Red Line and Twisted Gypsy proposed hosting a Harvest Festival at the square on November 2nd. Ideas for the event included a variety of food trucks, vendors, and support from school organizations– fun event for the whole family.

Before that, on October 31st, the Chamber will host the annual Trunk or Treat event around the square. This family-friendly activity will offer a safe and enjoyable trick-or-treating experience for children as well as a trunk decorating contest.

The Chamber is pleased with the progress in sponsorships and ticket sales for the Awards Banquet. The enthusiasm from local businesses and community members is a testament to the strong support for the Chamber’s initiatives and the upcoming events.
