Homecoming Festivities
By:Jenna Howle
Slaton ISD celebrated its homecoming festivities with a week full of fun and tradition leading up to the crowning of the 2024 Homecoming Queen and King. Kaylynn (KK) Salazar was crowned Homecoming Queen on Friday night, September 20, while Kaleb Ortiz earned the title of Homecoming King on Wednesday, September 18.
Despite the excitement of the week, the Slaton Tigers faced a tough game against Post, with a final score of 27-20. Homecoming week featured a variety of activities, including a car smash, a parade, carnival booths, and a spectacular fireworks show.
Themed dress days added to the fun: Tuesday showcased “Country vs. Country Club,” Wednesday was “Denim Day,” Thursday embraced “Old Medley & Ol’ Tuffy” with barnyard animal costumes, and Friday invited everyone to “Blame It All on Your Roots” by wearing red and black tiger gear, cowboy hats, and boots.
The Slaton community came together to celebrate school spirit and camaraderie, making this year’s homecoming a memorable event for all involved.
