Slaton St. Joseph’s Annual Sausage Festival

  By:Jenna Howle

The highly anticipated St. Joseph’s Annual Sausage Festival is back for another weekend of delicious food and exciting activities in Slaton, Texas, at the corner of 21st and Division. Taking place on Saturday, October 19, and Sunday, October 20, 2024, the event promises to offer something for everyone, from sausage sales to live auctions.

The festivities kick off on Saturday with bulk sausage sales from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. You can purchase regular, jalapeño, and habanero sausages, perfect for your fall cookouts. Starting at 11 a.m., the Oktoberfest will be in full swing, running until 10 p.m. Attendees can enjoy beer, wine, food, and drinks for sale throughout the day.

For those looking for some friendly competition, a Cornhole Tournament will also begin at 11 a.m. with a $20 entry fee per person. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. Football fans won’t miss out either—big-screen TVs will be set up so you can catch all the college games while enjoying German beer and the festival’s famous homemade braids, which will be made and sold on Saturday.

Sunday brings more fun with a traditional German sausage meal at 11 a.m., priced at $15 per plate. Make sure to save room for dessert and come prepared for the live auction, which starts at 2 p.m. This year’s auction will feature a quilt auction, with beautifully handmade quilts and braids up for grabs. There will also be quilt raffles for a chance to win some of these stunning creations.

Event chairs Angel and Joey Hybner are excited to welcome the community to the festival, promising a fun-filled weekend. For more details, visit slatonsausage.com. Don’t miss the opportunity to support St. Joseph’s and enjoy the best sausage and German-themed fun Slaton has to offer!
