Roosevelt beats Spearman, to play Alpine in Area

The Roosevelt Eagles were looking to repeat their victory last year versus the Spearman Lynx and advance to the second round of playoffs.

The Eagles swarming defense and high power offense were able to lift them over Spearman 44-11 for the Bi-District title and to go 11-0 on the season.

The Eagle offense was able to score six total touchdowns with five of them coming on the ground and one coming from the special teams. They also had four two-point conversion rushing attempts all ending successfully.

Leading rushers for the Eagles were Alex Trevino with 18 carries for 192-yards and two rushing touchdowns, J.J. Diaz with nine rushes for 93-yards and two touchdowns and Octavio Rodriguez with six carries for 24-yards and one touchdown.

Other rushers for the Eagles were Nathaniel Gensler with five carries for 38-yards, Angel Olivares with four carries for 40-yards and Zack Bryant with three carries for 26-yards.

Roosevelt’s defense accounted for four total sacks coming from Diaz, Koda Scott, Thomas Sanchez and Loyd Eustace. The defense also came up with an interception coming from Gensler.
