Slaton boys track qualifies for area

The Slaton High School boys track team recently returned from district contest with a slew of awards and many going on to area.

The 4×100 relay team, which consists of Zephron Ortiz, Eli Martinez, Matt Vasquez, and John Hernandez, placed third. The same team went on to place third in the 4×200 and fourth place in the 4×400.

Quavon McDaniel placed first in the Triple Jump while Eli Martinez placed second. John Hernandez placed third in the Long Jump.

Helping the Tigers out was Ethan Rivera, who placed third in the discus.

Malakai Mendez placed first in the 110 hurdles.

The team qualified for and will be competing in the area track meet Tuesday (April 17) in Tulia.
