Southland tracksters win big at district

The Southland Junior High track teams competed at district last Thursday (April 5), taking home several individual ribbons.

In the girls division, Trea Peterson earned district runner up in shot put and district champion in discus.

Kalli Davis took fourth in shot put and district runner up in discus. She also earned third place in the 100m dash.

Liz Payton was awarded third place in the long jump, fourth place in the triple jump, district runner up in the 2400m run, and fourth place in the 1600m run.

McKenna Booth earned her share of awards as well, taking home fifth in long jump and triple jump, district champion in the 300m hurdles, and district runner up in the 100m hurdles.

Ileigh Villa rounded out the results with fifth place in the 1600m run.

On the boys side, Spencer Poe earned third place in shot put and fifth place in the 400m dash. He was the district champion in discus and 100m dash and district runner up in the 200m dash.

Dylan Gossett took home fourth place in shot put and sixth place in discus.

Ben Flores was named district champion in the long jump, triple jump, and 400m dash. He was also district runner up in the 100m dash and received fourth in the 200m dash.

Also taking home awards was D’Angelo Arguello, earning fourth in the 800m run and the 400m dash.
